The Quiet Truth

album

Stillness as a destination. The record gathers the practices that quiet the mind until what remains is simply true: meditation, the sustained training of attention; astral projection, the deliberate loosening of awareness from the body; tantra, which works with the currents of subtle energy rather than against them; and scrying, the gazing practice in which the ordinary mind is stilled so that images may rise. Thirteen tracks turn those into positions a person can hold, knowing over thinking, what is over what if, humility, and the willingness to sit with discomfort.

Tracks & Meanings

  1. Think vs Know
Intuitive knowing set against anxious overthinking. The correspondence is Prudence, one of the four Cardinal Virtues, named from the Latin for a hinge on which the moral life turns: practical wisdom, the right reason that discerns the true good in each situation and chooses fitting means to it. Tradition calls it the charioteer of the virtues, which is the track's position on noise.
  2. What If vs What Is
Present-moment grounding set against anxiety about imagined futures. The correspondence is mindfulness, close attention to present experience, the breath, the body, the passing thought, each observed as it arises and falls without clinging or aversion. The title states the practice as a choice between two questions, and the record chooses the one that can actually be answered.
  3. Learn in Silence
Listening, and growth that does not announce itself. The correspondence is Humility, the contrary virtue set against Pride and in many accounts the foundation of all the others, since it is the honest recognition of one's true place. The track adds a practical rule: what you learn is diminished by being flexed, so the learning and the display are set against each other.
  4. Illusion of Better
Ego death and equality. Humility again, the virtue that heals Pride, sharing with that vice in the esoteric scheme used here the attribution of the Sun and of the archangel Michael. The track's argument is that better is a story rather than a fact, and that the crown worth breaking is the one you put on yourself.
  5. Energy Never Lies
Reading what is not said. The correspondence is Ajna, the third eye, whose Sanskrit name means command or to perceive, the indigo two-petalled lotus between the brows where the two great subtle channels meet the central one. It governs intuition, insight and perception beyond the senses, and it is the seat of the witness. Balanced it brings discernment; in excess, delusion. Trust perception over words.
  6. Shaded Halo
The duality of outward light and inner shadow. The correspondence is shadow work, the deliberate effort to recognise and integrate what Jung called the shadow: the traits a person has disowned because they conflict with the self-image they want to keep. Because the material does not go anywhere, it surfaces as projection and as disproportionate irritation. The aim is not removal but ownership, so the halo stays shaded.
  7. Rear View Energy
Releasing the past without regret, and forward motion. No correspondence is attached. On a record about stillness it is the one track about velocity, and it earns its place by making the release the condition of the motion rather than the reward for it. Nothing moves while it is still being carried.

  8. ATM
Accept the mystery. The correspondence is Faith, one of the three Theological Virtues named with Hope and Charity, held to be infused rather than acquired and to have God himself as its direct object: firm belief and trust in what has been revealed. The track states it as a surrender of the argument, no more fighting destiny, which is the record's central move made explicit.
  9. All Three Times
Past, present and future integrated and held with gratitude, with the weight kept on the present. The correspondence is mindfulness, awareness of what is arising now, carried out of formal sitting into ordinary acts. The track's variation is that it does not discard the other two tenses. It visits them and returns, which is nearer to the practice as taught than a simple refusal of memory.
  10. Cocoon Code
Growth requires struggle, and over-rescuing robs strength. No correspondence is attached, and the image carries the argument: a chrysalis opened early produces something that cannot fly, so help offered at the wrong moment is a form of harm. It sits with the record's discomfort tracks rather than with its stillness tracks.

  11. Comfortable Being Uncomfortable
Courage and endurance, and growth taken by embracing discomfort rather than waiting it out. The correspondence is Fortitude, the cardinal virtue of firmness in the face of danger and hardship, steadying the soul between rashness and cowardice. Its image here is pressure turning coal to diamond, which is the same claim Pressure Makes Roots makes on the previous record and under the same virtue.
  12. Fearless, Not Reckless
Courage balanced by discernment. The correspondence is Prudence, practical wisdom, traditionally called the charioteer of the virtues because it guides and measures the other three. The title names the distinction the virtue exists to draw: bravery without discipline is not courage but appetite, and the difference between the two is judgment rather than nerve.
  13. Laugh With Yourself
Self-acceptance and the release of ego through humour. Humility a third time on this record, the honest recognition of one's true place, arrived at here by laughing rather than by chastening. The track throws the ego in the fire and watches it melt, which is the lightest of the three routes the album offers to the same virtue, and the one it chooses to close on.
