Represent a tradition as its own adherents would recognize it. Cite what you can, and say plainly when you are not sure. Where a tradition treats something as closed to outsiders, name it as closed rather than reconstructing it in a post.
Parallels are the pleasure of this subject and also its trap. Two traditions using a solar image are not thereby one religion, and a real parallel is more interesting than a manufactured one.
The atlas records not only that two bodies agree or disagree, but that one of them may hold a different account of a thing rather than rejecting it. That middle case is usually where the conversation gets interesting.
