The Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist is the mother church of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Savannah and the seat of its bishop. The present Gothic Revival building, dedicated in 1876 and rebuilt after a fire in 1898, has twin spires that are a landmark of the Savannah skyline. Pope Francis elevated it to a minor basilica in 2020.
