Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene Verified Organization

About

Quiapo Church in Manila holds the Black Nazarene, a dark wooden image of Christ carrying the cross that was brought from Mexico in the seventeenth century. It was raised to minor basilica by Pope John Paul II in 1987 and belongs to the Archdiocese of Manila. The Traslación on 9 January, which retraces the transfer of the image from the church of Saint Nicholas of Tolentine, draws one of the largest religious crowds in the world.
