Oakwood University is a Seventh-day Adventist, historically Black university in Huntsville, Alabama, founded in 1896. In 2014 it became a sponsored institution of the North American Division of Seventh-day Adventists, the first higher-education institution directly sponsored by that division. Oakwood offers undergraduate and graduate programs and is widely known for its Aeolians choir and its role in training Black Seventh-day Adventist leadership.
