The Vedanta Society of New York, founded by Swami Vivekananda in 1894, is the oldest Vedanta society in the United States. It is a branch of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission (the Ramakrishna Order) based in India and teaches Advaita Vedanta philosophy. The society holds public lectures, meditation classes, and religious services at its West 71st Street location in Manhattan.
