The Divine Algorithm

album

Sacred geometry treated as source code. Thirteen tracks run a construction sequence in order: the dimensionless point, the six arcs that close into a circle, the vesica piscis where one becomes two, the seven-circle Seed of Life, the Flower, the thirteen circles of the Fruit, and the lines joining those centres into Metatron's Cube, at which point the five Platonic solids fall out as the elements. The last three tracks step outside the compass work entirely: the golden spiral, the observer who collapses possibility into form, and a return to the point the record opened with.

Tracks & Meanings

  1. The Point
Euclid opens the Elements with it: a point is that which has no part, position and nothing else. It is the one object in geometry that cannot be constructed but only placed, since every compass needs a centre and every straightedge two points to join. Traditions reasoning about origins have reached for it repeatedly, from the Pythagorean monad to the bindu at the centre of the Sri Yantra. The record starts before form, motion or division.
  2. The Arcs
Six directed intentions move out at fixed angles and close the circle. The geometry is exact and is the reason the whole construction sequence works: the side of a hexagon inscribed in a circle is exactly the radius, so six steps of an unchanged compass around a circumference mark all six vertices. Euclid gives it as Book IV Proposition 15. Everything the album builds afterwards comes from that one step repeated.
  3. Her Curves
The receptive principle that contains and unifies the straight-line forces, closing the six into one. The correspondence is the circle itself, defined by Euclid as the figure whose every boundary point is equidistant from one interior point, and granted by his third postulate, which is simply the compass. Unbroken and without distinguished points, it serves widely as the figure of wholeness.
  4. The Portal
Two circles of equal radius, each drawn through the other's centre, and the lens where they overlap. This is not a decorative figure but the opening move of the Elements: Euclid's first proposition uses exactly these two circles to erect an equilateral triangle. Its proportions are exact, one radius wide and the square root of three radii tall. Christian art knows the shape as the mandorla. Here it is the gate where one becomes two.
  5. In Our Image
Seven equal circles, one at the centre and six around it, each drawn through the centre of the last. It is the first stage of the overlapping-circle grid and can be built with a compass alone. The pattern is old and very widely distributed, on Assyrian, Roman, Islamic and European work; the name Seed of Life and the reading of the seven circles as the days of creation are modern. The track takes the modern reading and gives it a consciousness that recognises itself.
  6. The Garden
The same seven-circle figure, six around one, read now as the pattern underfoot rather than overhead: unconscious life proliferating on a design it does not know it is repeating. Where In Our Image has consciousness recognise the geometry, The Garden has growth simply obey it. Both tracks carry the Seed of Life, which is why they sit adjacent in the sequence.
  7. Infinite Bloom
The seed pattern repeated outward: a grid of overlapping circles of equal radius, each centred where others cross, conventionally shown as nineteen complete circles inside two bounding rings, and in principle tiling the plane without limit. The pattern is genuinely ancient, found on Assyrian thresholds, in Roman mosaic, in Islamic design and in Leonardo's notebooks; the name Flower of Life is modern. One form scaling into all.
  8. The Harvest
Expansion contracts into selection. The Fruit of Life takes thirteen circles from the Flower, the centre and twelve around it in two rings of six, now standing tangent rather than overlapping, and it is the last purely circular stage of the construction sequence. The underlying arrangement is simply hexagonal packing. Only what is essential survives the cut, which is the track's argument and the geometry's at once.
  9. Rendering
Join the centres of the thirteen circles with every possible connecting line and you get seventy-eight lines and a web of overlapping hexagons, triangles and stars, in which modern sacred geometry reads all five Platonic solids in projection. It is derived from the Fruit of Life and not directly from the Flower, a distinction routinely lost. Metatron belongs to Jewish Merkabah literature; his name on this diagram belongs to modern occultism.
  10. Elements
Rendered geometry gains weight. All five elements are named: Fire, spirit and will, hot and dry; Earth, matter and body, cold and dry; Air, mind and speech, hot and moist; Water, feeling and the unconscious, cold and moist; and Spirit, the aether or quintessence, which has no pair of qualities because it is their source. In the Platonic scheme each takes a solid, the dodecahedron given to the cosmos itself. Matter takes hold.
  11. The Golden Spiral
A logarithmic spiral whose radius grows by a factor of phi, about 1.618, every quarter turn. Phi is exact and genuinely important: the ratio Euclid called extreme and mean, the limit successive Fibonacci ratios approach, and in a precise technical sense the hardest number to approximate with fractions, which is why it governs the arrangement of leaves and seeds. It is also the most over-claimed number in mathematics. The track sings the growth, not the claims.
  12. The Observer
Consciousness collapsing possibility into form simply by witnessing. The track names the quantum observer effect and carries no Atlas correspondence, since the Atlas holds the geometry rather than the physics. Its placement second to last is structural: everything before it has been construction, and this is the first track to ask who the construction is for.

  13. Return to the Point
The record closes on the figure it opened with: the dimensionless origin, position and nothing else, which cannot be constructed but only placed. Every system on the album has looped, and the last loop is awareness returning to where it began. What can honestly be said about the point is philosophical, because mathematically there is almost nothing there, and that is precisely the interest.
