Aura Layers' Entire Dispute Is One Publication Date, Asked Seven Times
Aura Layers is counted by this atlas at 15.1 percent debated, ninth behind Frequencies, Prophecies, Psi Phenomena, Miracles, Gemstones, Language Families, Seven Rays and Ages, against a baseline of well under one percent atlas-wide. Unlike Ages, whose ten disputes split into two unrelated kinds of argument, Aura Layers reduces to exactly one dispute, restated once for each of its seven layers.
Two Attributions, Only One of Them Disputed
The seven layers, the Etheric Body, Emotional Body, Mental Body, Astral Body, Etheric Template, Celestial Body and Ketheric Body, carry two separate attributions in the atlas's own record. Charles Webster Leadbeater and the Theosophical writers are credited for the general idea of graded subtle bodies said to be clairvoyantly perceived, placed broadly between 1880 and 1930, and that dating is not in dispute. Barbara Ann Brennan is credited separately for the specific seven named layers and their pairing with the seven chakras, and it is only this second attribution that carries a live dispute.
One Year or the Next, Asked Seven Times Over
Every one of the seven layers carries the identical note: the first imprint is given as 1987 in some catalogues and 1988 in others, including a specific bibliographic source the atlas cites as Leland's, and the atlas's own articles on the aura layers say 1987. The recorded date range covers both years rather than asserting either. That single question, asked and answered the same way fourteen times over, start year and end year for each of the seven layers, is the entirety of what makes this type's debated share as high as it is: not seven different arguments, the Ages shape, but one small bibliographic uncertainty inherited by every layer alike, the same shape the Seven Rays entries already carry.
