The Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in 2015 amid a wave of clergy sexual abuse claims. Announced 31 May to 1 June 2018, the resulting settlement totaled 210 million dollars for more than 450 survivors, funded substantially by insurance carriers, and, per ABC News, exposed 91 previously unlisted clergy as credibly accused offenders in the process. It stood as the second largest Catholic Church settlement in US history at the time, after the Archdiocese of Los Angeles's 660 million dollar settlement in 2007. U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Robert Kressel formally confirmed the reorganization plan on 25 September 2018, with hundreds of survivors voting overwhelmingly in favor. No living survivor is named; both accounts describe an aggregate bankruptcy settlement.

Reported as more than 450 survivors compensated by the settlement; the figure comes from ABC News's contemporaneous reporting on the announced terms.
Key Finding
ABC News singles out a finding beyond the dollar total: the settlement process itself exposed 91 clergy who had never before been listed and publicly named as credibly accused, meaning the archdiocese's own prior public accounting of its abusive clergy had been substantially incomplete until the bankruptcy proceeding forced it open. 3
