A report released by the Illinois Attorney General's office on May 23, 2023, closing a four year investigation into how the state's six Catholic dioceses handled child sexual abuse by clergy. It named 451 clergy and religious brothers credibly accused of abusing at least 1,997 children from 1950 to 2019, more than four times the 103 individuals the dioceses had previously named on their own.
