Its sources are not yet part of the atlas's verified catalogue. The figures behind Catholic Charities USA are unusual for a single line in a report, because they are not the accounts of one organization. They are a sum across 168 separately incorporated diocesan agencies, each with its own budget, staff and local board, reported up to the national office and published together. The 2024 network total, more than 16 million people served, more than 28 million meals, emergency housing help reaching over 295,000 people, describes the combined reach of that federation rather than the operating scale of the Alexandria, Virginia office itself, which exists to coordinate and support the member agencies rather than to deliver services under its own roof. One figure in that report reads less like an achievement and more like a schedule: 52 disaster responses in a single year, an average of one a week. A network built from independent diocesan agencies spread across the country turns out to be well suited to exactly that kind of demand, since a hurricane, wildfire or flood in one region draws on a local agency already embedded there rather than requiring a single national body to mobilize from a standing start each time. The structure that makes the numbers hard to read as one organization's balance sheet is the same structure that makes the response time possible.Cross-Tradition ConnectionsArticle OnCatholic Charities USA, Organizations Well-attested SourcesCatholic Charities USA 2024 Annual Reporttier 1Catholic Charities USA, Catholic Charities USA, 2025View the SourceComments (0)No comments yet.
