George King led The Aetherius Society, the organization he founded in London in 1955, for the rest of his life, building branches in several countries before his death in 1997. Across more than four decades of leadership he expanded the movement's UFO centered cosmology and its practice of yogic spiritual discipline into a following that reached well beyond Britain and its original London base.
Alongside that leadership, King used a number of self styled ecclesiastical and honorific titles, including Doctor and Sir, drawn from unaccredited institutions and unofficial orders rather than from any state or recognized academic body. Those titles accompanied him publicly throughout his decades as the Society's founder and leader, presented as markers of standing alongside his claimed role as the voice of an Interplanetary Parliament on Earth.
The combination of an international branch network, a durable cosmology centered on contact with Cosmic Masters, and titles King awarded himself rather than received from any outside authority, together define how outside sources describe his decades long leadership of the movement he built from a single reported voice heard in London one evening in May 1959.
