The passage then sets out the altar's own dimensions in careful stages, a base, a lower ledge, an upper ledge and the hearth itself, each measured precisely, along with instructions for its consecration: a bull offered as a sin offering on the first day, its blood applied to the altar's horns and corners, and a further seven days of purification offerings, a young bull and a ram without blemish each day, before the altar is considered properly cleansed and fit for regular service.
The haftarah closes with the promise that from the eighth day onward the priests may offer burnt offerings and peace offerings on this altar, and that God will accept the people favorably from that point forward, closing a passage of exacting ritual instruction with the assurance of restored divine favor once it has been properly followed.
