Hizb 41 closes Al-Ankabut with instruction to debate the People of the Book in the best manner and an affirmation that the Quran is a sign clear enough in itself, before carrying the whole of Ar-Rum, the Byzantines, which opens with a prediction that the Byzantine Romans, recently defeated, would themselves prevail again within a few years, a passage widely read as tied to the historical wars between the Byzantine and Sasanian Persian empires and cited since as evidence of foreknowledge in the text.
Ar-Rum argues for resurrection from ordinary signs, sleep as a small death and waking as a small resurrection, and carries one of the Quran's most quoted verses on marriage, describing spouses as a sign of God's power because tranquility, love and mercy have been placed between them. It warns against dividing religion into sects and names a natural disposition toward monotheism, the fitra, as something built into every person before it is shaped otherwise by upbringing.
The hizb then opens Luqman, naming a sage given wisdom, and setting out his advice to his son: never associate partners with God, honor parents while refusing them only if they demand disbelief, keep up prayer, be patient under hardship, do not walk through the earth with arrogance, and moderate the voice, since the harshest of voices, the sura says, is the braying of a donkey.
