How the Pentecostal World Fellowship Convened the 25th Pentecostal World Conference in Calgary

This article records tradition as it has been passed down and reported. Its sources are not yet part of the atlas's verified catalogue.

From 27 to 30 August 2019, the Pentecostal World Fellowship held its twenty fifth triennial Pentecostal World Conference in Calgary, Alberta, hosted by the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada and other Canadian member denominations of the Fellowship at the TELUS Convention Centre, under the theme Spirit Now.

More than three thousand delegates from over seventy nations attended. Featured speakers included Bishop Charles Blake of the United States, Dr Younghoon Lee of South Korea and Bishop Dag Heward Mills of Ghana, with Dr Prince Guneratnam chairing the conference and General Superintendent David Wells of the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada among its host leadership.

On the conference's closing day, its Host Committee issued the Calgary Call, a communique naming five themes delegates had identified across the conference's sessions: greater unity across generations and cultures, engagement with the Spirit's work, biblical commitment and prayer, participation in God's mission, and support for persecuted believers worldwide.

What the four days in Calgary changed for the Pentecostal World Fellowship's own gathering was producing a named communique distilling its triennial conference into five stated themes, drawn from delegates representing more than seventy nations and voiced by speakers from three different continents, rather than closing without any such summary statement of what the conference itself had gathered around.
