The Jain Network is a UK-registered charity formed in March 2007 as a merger of three existing organizations: Jain Sangha of Europe, Jain Academy and Ahimsa for Quality of Life. Its founding chair, Dr Natubhai Shah, led the merger and continues as Chairman and Chief Executive of its Board of Trustees.
Its stated purpose is to provide information and facilities to advance and promote the Jain religion for the benefit of the public, especially Jain communities in India and the UK, through education and training and through the relief of poverty, sickness and distress. In 2010 the Network acquired property in Colindale, North West London, to establish the Jain Centre London, giving the merged organization a permanent home.
The Network's Board of Trustees today includes Dr Ajitkumar Shah as Secretary and Mr Dipak Shah as Treasurer alongside founding chair Dr Natubhai Shah, continuing the governance structure set at the 2007 merger of its three founding organizations. The Jain Network remains active today as a UK-registered charity providing information and facilities to advance and promote the Jain religion, continuing its work in education and training and in the relief of poverty, sickness and distress nearly two decades after the merger that created it.
