This article records tradition as it has been passed down and reported. Its sources are not yet part of the atlas's verified catalogue.
The Juxtaposition Cross of Alertness is named here for Gate 44 and Gate 24, the same pair as the Cross of Rationalization with sun and earth exchanged. Its first article reads Gate 44 as an instinctive memory for people and patterns, a nose for who can be relied on, now the more exposed gate, and Gate 24 as a mind circling the same thought repeatedly until it finally resolves. What it does not trace is where the four gates sit on the wheel itself, the Human Design mandala's division of its sixty four gates into four Quarters, and by that measure this cross draws from only two of the four, not one from each.
Gate 44, the personality gate here, falls in the Quarter of Duality, purpose fulfilled through bonding. Gate 24, its personality partner, falls in the Quarter of Initiation, purpose fulfilled through mind. Behind them, Gate 7 falls in the same Quarter of Duality as Gate 44, and Gate 13 falls in the same Quarter of Initiation as Gate 24.
So this cross, unlike most of its cohort, draws its whole reading from two arcs rather than four: the instinctive memory for who can be trusted and the leadership beneath it both answer to bonding, while the circling mind and the listener holding the past beneath it both answer to mind. The same pair, exchanged, is this cross's own reversal, the Juxtaposition Cross of Rationalization, carrying the identical concentration since the same four gates run beneath both orderings, already reported on Rationalization's own second article. The same four gates also underlie the Left Angle Cross of Incarnation, both orderings, while the Right Angle Cross of the Four Ways shares only the two personality gates, its design half falling on Gate 19 and Gate 33 instead, so it does not carry this same two Quarter concentration.
