Its use is not confined to recitation: because its phrases are considered dense with meaning rather than merely descriptive, many Sikhs treat sustained reflection on the Mool Mantar itself, turning each attribute over in the mind, as a form of meditation practice distinct from simply speaking the words. It is inscribed prominently at Sikh gurdwaras, often at the entrance or above the main hall, functioning visually as well as liturgically to announce the theological foundation of the space a visitor is entering. Its role in the Amrit Sanskar, the Sikh initiation ceremony in which a person formally commits to the faith and the Khalsa discipline, situates the Mool Mantar as one of the doctrinal touchstones a new initiate is expected to understand and affirm, rather than as background scripture encountered only incidentally over the course of ordinary practice.Cross-Tradition ConnectionsArticle OnMool Mantar, Prayers Well-attested Source Divinity Atlas Long-Form Articles, First Editiontier 1SourcesDivinity Atlas Long-Form Articles, First Editiontier 1Comments (0)No comments yet.
