With four angles and three trines in every chart, and with several ways of counting an association, some Raja Yoga can be identified in almost any chart a practitioner is handed. That has a consequence worth stating plainly, and the more careful writers in the tradition state it. A rule that fires in nearly every case carries almost no information, and a reading built on announcing one is not distinguishing the chart in front of it from any other. The classical response is to grade them: which houses, how strong the lords, whether the association is by conjunction, by mutual aspect, by exchange of signs or merely by one lord occupying the other's house, and whether the periods of those lords fall within a working life. The strongest cases in the classical grading are exchanges between the ninth and tenth lords and conjunctions of well placed lords in an angle or a trine. The weakest are technically present and dismissed. An outside reader should take from this that jyotisha's combinations are not a checklist. The system's own literature treats identification as the beginning of the work. The atlas describes the method and makes no claim for it.Cross-Tradition ConnectionsArticle OnRaja Yoga, Yogas Well-attested Source Divinity Atlas Long-Form Articles, First Editiontier 1SourcesDivinity Atlas Long-Form Articles, First Editiontier 1Comments (0)No comments yet.
