Funded by Donors, Not Government

This article records tradition as it has been passed down and reported. Its sources are not yet part of the atlas's verified catalogue.

Sewa International's most recent audited accounts show total revenue of 8,225,401 US dollars against total expenses of 6,859,173 US dollars for the year ended 31 December 2024, with contributions making up 71.4 percent of revenue, a notably lower share than the deeply donor-dependent ratios reported by several of the larger Christian relief organizations working similar ground. The organization states plainly that it is funded primarily through donor contributions rather than government grants, a choice of framing that positions it deliberately outside the grant-dependent model many humanitarian nonprofits of comparable size rely on.

That funding posture is not incidental to how the organization describes its own mission. Sewa International presents its work as an expression of a volunteer-service ethos rooted in the wider Hindu Sewa Bharati movement rather than as a professionalized aid program built to compete for institutional grant funding, and a revenue base leaning more heavily on individual and community donors than on government contracts is consistent with an organization whose founding identity is volunteer mobilization rather than grant administration. The lower contributions share, in that light, reads less as a weakness in fundraising and more as a structural signature of what kind of organization it set out to be.
