Buddhist Churches of America (BCA) is the primary national organization for Jodo Shinshu (Shin) Buddhism in the continental United States, tracing its roots to Japanese immigrant congregations first organized in 1899. Headquartered in San Francisco, California, it oversees affiliated temples across the country, a ministerial training program, and the Institute of Buddhist Studies. BCA is affiliated with the Nishi Hongwanji branch of Jodo Shinshu Buddhism based in Kyoto, Japan.
