Christ Church is an Episcopal parish in Philadelphia's Old City, part of the Episcopal Diocese of Pennsylvania, founded in 1695 as a Church of England congregation. Known as the birthplace of the American Episcopal Church, its rector William White became the first Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church, and the parish hosted the first General Convention in 1789. The congregation continues regular worship at its colonial-era building alongside its historic burial ground.
