Origin from 1926
A Mexican apostolic restorationist church founded in Guadalajara in 1926 by Eusebio Joaquin Gonzalez, who took the name Aaron Joaquin and taught that he had been called as a modern apostle to restore New Testament Christianity. Leadership has passed hereditarily through three generations of the Joaquin family, from Aaron Joaquin to his son Samuel Joaquin Flores and then to his grandson Naason Joaquin Garcia, each recognized within the church as its living apostle. It has grown from its Guadalajara base, where its Hermosa Provincia headquarters complex functions as both a religious and civic center for the movement, into a global church claiming congregations across Latin America, the United States and beyond. In 2019 Naason Joaquin Garcia was arrested in Los Angeles on charges including child rape and human trafficking; he pleaded guilty in a California court in 2022 to multiple felony counts involving minors and received a lengthy prison sentence, a matter that drew wide press coverage and that the church's own statements have addressed while its congregations have continued to operate.
