Olpaged is one of the twelve Zodiacal Kings set down in Liber Scientiae, Auxilii et Victoriae Terrestris, the tabulation John Dee compiled from the angelic sessions he held with the scryer Edward Kelley, dated to May 1585. The manuscript divides the ninety-one Parts of the Earth, more commonly called the Enochian Governors, among the thirty Aethyrs, and separately assigns each Part to one of twelve Kings, each King tied in turn to one of the twelve tribes of Israel. Olpaged governs the tribe of Dan.
Five Parts fall under Olpaged: Lazdixi, which opens the fifth Aethyr, LIT, with a territory given as Bactriane, the classical Bactria in Central Asia; Todnaon, the second Part of the eighth Aethyr, ZID, whose territory Soxia answers to no place Dee's editors have been able to identify; Laparin, in the thirteenth Aethyr, ZIM, assigned to Armenia; Avdropt, in the seventeenth Aethyr, TAN, assigned to Cyrenaica on the North African coast; and Paraoan, in the twenty-second Aethyr, LIN, assigned to Marmarica, the coastal country west of Egypt. The five Parts share no obvious geographic logic, spread from Central Asia to North Africa, which is typical of the twelve Kings' portfolios generally.
The zodiac sign now commonly attached to Olpaged rests on a reconstruction later practitioners built on top of the tribe, since Dee's own material assigns tribes but not signs and gives no method for deriving one from the other; more than one such scheme circulates today, and none carries the manuscript's own authority. Olpaged is a distinct figure from the seven Kings of the Heptarchia, an unrelated weekday system from the same Dee and Kelley sessions, recorded separately in De Heptarchia Mystica.
