Bhai Mati Das, along with his younger brother Bhai Sati Das, was a martyr of early Sikh history. He was executed at a kotwali in the Chandni Chowk area of Delhi under the express order of Emperor Aurangzeb, alongside Bhai Dayala, just before the martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur, killed by being bound between two pillars and sawed in two.
