Hong Tao-Tze is the founder and Grand Master, or Zhang-men-ren, of Tai Ji Men, a qigong and martial arts based menpai he established in Taiwan in 1966, teaching self-cultivation through the master-disciple, or shifu-dizi, tradition alongside physical training rooted in esoteric Daoism. He led Tai Ji Men through eleven years of criminal prosecution over gifts his disciples gave him, to a final, non-appealable acquittal at Taiwan's Supreme Court on July 13, 2007. He also serves as President of the Federation of World Peace and Love (FOWPAL), a United States based international NGO founded in 2000, through which he and Tai Ji Men disciples have travelled to over one hundred countries promoting what they describe as a culture of conscience, including advocacy for the United Nations' 2019 adoption of April 5 as the International Day of Conscience.
