The Phu Day Festival is the principal annual observance of Dao Mau, held at the Phu Day temples in Nam Dinh Province. UNESCO's 2016 inscription of the Practices Related to the Viet Beliefs in the Mother Goddesses of Three Realms names the Phu Day Festival specifically as a major gathering, when communities travel to the temples for ceremonial worship of Lieu Hanh and the wider Mother Goddess pantheon. Len Dong, the possession ceremony in which mediums receive a sequence of spirits, each announced by a costume change and accompanied by chau van singing, is performed intensively during the festival period.
