Origin 1954
A UFO religion founded in 1954 in El Cajon, California by Ernest L. Norman and his wife Ruth E. Norman, who taught after his death in 1971 as "Uriel," said to be an avatar of a cosmic teacher. Its name is presented as an acronym for "Universal Articulate Interdimensional Understanding of Science." Its cosmology holds that Earth is one member of an "Interplanetary Confederation" of advanced worlds, that souls undergo repeated reincarnation while carrying unresolved psychic trauma forward from past lives, and that this trauma can be released through group past-life therapy sessions in which members act out earlier incarnations, often filmed for the group's own archive of low-budget science-fiction style videos. Ruth Norman also predicted the physical landing of a fleet of starships from the Confederation on specific announced dates, none of which occurred, without ending the group's continued operation. It remains active, still headquartered in El Cajon.
