Asato ma sad gamaya, one of the best known prayers in Hinduism, and its immediate gloss by the text itself. Muller's footnote marker is removed and the sentence is joined across a page break. In context it is a liturgical instruction: these are verses the sacrificer recites while the priest begins to sing.
