Joseph is shown in his role as the husband of Mary and the earthly guardian of Jesus, venerated across the Christian tradition as patron of workers and of the universal church. Held today by the Metropolitan Museum of Art, European Sculpture and Decorative Arts department, under accession 59.203.2.
