A wool, silk and gilded silver metal-wrapped thread tapestry titled "Saint Veronica," by Bernard van Orley, ca. 1525. Veronica, by legend a woman of Jerusalem who wiped the face of Christ on the road to Calvary and found his image imprinted on the cloth, is shown holding that veil. Held today by the Metropolitan Museum of Art, European Sculpture and Decorative Arts department, under accession 41.190.80.
