A short video produced by the Mission archeologique syro-francaise de Ras Shamra-Ougarit, the official French excavating mission at ancient Ugarit, presenting the limestone "Stele of Baal with the Thunderbolt," discovered at the site in 1932 and now held by the Musee du Louvre. The stele shows Baal, the Canaanite and Ugaritic storm god, brandishing a lightning bolt shaped as a spear, one of the best-known images of the Canaanite pantheon to survive from the Bronze Age Levant.
