Accounts of the First Vision (Joseph Smith Papers)

The Joseph Smith Papers Project's own digitized archive presenting all four surviving first-person accounts of Joseph Smith's First Vision, alongside images of the original manuscripts. Its strength is that it is a primary documentary record, letting a reader compare Smith's own several tellings directly rather than relying on a later paraphrase. Its limit is that it is published and maintained by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints itself, the institution whose founding narrative the vision is, so an independent historian's analysis of the accounts' differences is needed for any claim about what those differences mean.
