Annales seu cronicae incliti Regni Poloniae

Jan Dlugosz's Annales seu cronicae incliti Regni Poloniae, completed around 1480, is a primary fifteenth century Polish chronicle; the atlas asserts no exact year because the work's own completion date is itself approximate. Its strength is that it is a major and early source for Polish history, including its own late and much doubted account of the Slavic gods, such as its comparison of Marzanna to Ceres. Its limit is precisely that lateness: Dlugosz wrote centuries after the paganism he describes had been supplanted, so his account of Slavic religion is generally read by scholars as unreliable testimony to it, whatever its value for later medieval Polish history.
