Collected Works (Sobranie sochinenii)

Collected Works, known as Sobranie sochinenii, M. N. Khangalov's three volumes published by the Buryat Book Publishing House at Ulan-Ude beginning in the late 1950s, gather four decades of the author's own fieldwork on western Buryat shamanic practice, recorded in the Buryat language directly from named informants. Khangalov was himself a Buryat ethnographer working within his own community, and the collection's authority rests on that combination of insider access and decades of sustained direct fieldwork. Its limit is that it documents a specific regional Buryat tradition and time period rather than Siberian shamanism broadly. Cite it for western Buryat practice specifically.
