Community of Christ's own published FAQ explaining its 5 March 2024 sale of the Kirtland Temple and related Nauvoo, Illinois, historic properties and artifacts (the Smith Family Homestead, the Mansion House, the Nauvoo House, the Red Brick Store, and manuscripts including pages of the Joseph Smith Translation of the Bible) to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for 192.5 million US dollars, without assigning separate values to individual properties or items. The FAQ states the proceeds will fund a Temple Endowment and a Worldwide Mission Endowment intended to generate annual income for the church's Worldwide Mission Budget, projects placing roughly 175 million dollars into those endowments generating just over 57 million dollars in income between 2025 and 2034, and states that Worldwide Mission Tithes are separately projected to decline about 4 percent a year, from 9.8 million dollars in 2025 to 6.5 million dollars in 2035, without additional income sources.
