Des Erreurs et de la Verite (Of Errors and of Truth)

Des Erreurs et de la Verite is Louis-Claude de Saint-Martin's own 1775 primary text, the foundational statement of what became Martinism, an esoteric Christian mystical current within Western occultism. As the founder's own original work laying out the tradition's core ideas, it is the primary and authoritative source for what Martinism's founding text actually argues, not a secondary description of the tradition by an outside observer. Its limit is the ordinary one for any founding esoteric primary text, it presents Saint-Martin's own metaphysical and mystical claims in the philosophical language of his own eighteenth century French intellectual milieu, so a claim about the tradition's later historical development or its relationship to other esoteric currents of the period needs an independent scholarly history of Western esotericism alongside this primary source.
