Collin de Plancy's Dictionnaire Infernal, in its 1863 illustrated edition from Henri Plon, is a nineteenth century reference work rather than a modern scholarly source. Its strength is that its engravings by Louis Le Breton are the direct origin of almost all the familiar modern images of the Goetic spirits. Its limit is that those images are Le Breton's own nineteenth century French book illustrations, not depictions found in the Lemegeton itself, whose only figures are written seals, and the entry is careful to keep that distinction visible.
