Emmanuel Voutiras' Dionysophontos Gamoi, published by J. C. Gieben in Amsterdam in 1998, is the standard scholarly edition and study of the Pella curse tablet, the fourth century BCE lead tablet found in Macedon in which a woman named Dagina invokes underworld powers against her lover's intended marriage. Its strength is that it is a peer-reviewed critical edition establishing both the tablet's text and the linguistic argument, based on its Doric Greek dialect, for Macedonian as a Greek dialect. Its limit is that it is a specialist philological study of one artifact, so a claim about ancient Greek binding magic more broadly needs a source addressing that wider practice.
