Facts
Assessment
Reliability Tier
3
A tertiary encyclopedic reference for organizational founding and structure facts; treated at the same tier as other Wikipedia-sourced organization and denomination citations already live in this database.
Notes
Tertiary reference, read directly for this entry. States Khalsa Aid was founded by Ravinder (Ravi) Singh Sidhu, struck by the plight of refugees in the 1999 Kosovo War, and that a small group drove two trucks to the Albanian border for its first emergency provision; the same year marked the 300th anniversary of the creation of the Khalsa. States the organization is regarded as the first cross-border international humanitarian organization based on Sikh principles, citing the ideal Sarbat da Bhalla, well-being for all. The org page's own infobox states a 1999 founding year while its body text states 2000, an internal inconsistency; this was resolved by reading Ravi Singh (humanitarian)'s own separate Wikipedia biography (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ravi_Singh_(humanitarian)), which states unambiguously "Ravi has been working as a Sikh humanitarian since 1999", corroborated by independent reporting describing an April 1999 founding during the Kosovo War. 1999 is used throughout this atlas's coverage on that basis. Reliability tier 3: a tertiary encyclopedia reference, used here only for uncontested founding-history detail that does not conflict with the organization's own Charity Commission filing.
