L'Eucologio Barberini gr. 336, Stefano Parenti and Elena Velkovska's 1995 critical edition from CLV Edizioni Liturgiche, Rome, presents the oldest surviving complete Byzantine euchologion, or liturgical service book, manuscript. Its strength is that it is a scholarly critical edition of the actual primary manuscript, prepared by specialists in Byzantine liturgy. Its limit is that a critical edition documents the manuscript's own text, not a full interpretive history of how Byzantine liturgical practice changed over time, which needs separate scholarship.
