Jim B. Tucker's Life Before Life: A Scientific Investigation of Children's Memories of Previous Lives, St. Martin's Press, 2005, is a practitioner's investigative study, from a University of Virginia psychiatrist working within an established research program on children's reported past life memories. Its strength is that it applies a stated case collection and verification method rather than simply retelling anecdotes. Its limit is that reincarnation research of this kind sits well outside the scientific mainstream, and Tucker's own findings have not been independently replicated to the standard that would settle the underlying claim.
