The Metropolitan Museum of Art's own collection record for a diptych wing showing "Saint John on Patmos, Madonna and Child Enthroned, and Death of the Virgin" on its front, with "The Crucifixion" among the scenes on its companion panel, tempera and gold ground on wood, by the Florentine painter Pacino di Bonaguida, active 1302 to circa 1340. The record gives the accession number 64.189.3ab, a wing measuring roughly 24 3/8 by 16 inches, the classification Paintings, and the credit line Gift of Irma N. Straus, 1964. John is shown seated on the island of Patmos, the traditional setting of his visionary exile.
