This is an edited academic collection, not one author's argument. Michael Strmiska, a scholar of new religious movements, assembled specialists to write one chapter each on a Modern Pagan movement in its own region, Asatru in Scandinavia, Druidry in Britain, Wicca and others, published by ABC-CLIO, an academic reference press. Its strength is that each chapter speaks from someone who has studied that specific movement directly, rather than one outsider generalizing across all of them. Its limits are the limits of any 2005 edited volume, the movements themselves have grown and split since, and the depth of each chapter depends on which contributor wrote it. Every claim traces to a named specialist writing under an academic publisher's editorial process, not to the atlas's own voice.
