Picatrix: A Medieval Treatise on Astral Magic

This is Dan Attrell and David Porreca's standard English critical translation of the Latin Picatrix, published by Pennsylvania State University Press, and its scholarly introduction carries both the work's dating and the modern rejection of the traditional ascription to al-Majriti, a documented revision of the older attribution this record states rather than repeating the superseded claim. That direct philological engagement with the Latin text, together with the introduction's own critical apparatus, is the edition's real evidentiary basis, distinct from a bare citation of the underlying medieval text. Use it for the content of the Picatrix's astral and talismanic magic as this critical translation renders it, and for its own established textual history and authorship question; a claim about the earlier Arabic Ghayat al-Hakim's own composition needs a source addressing the Arabic textual tradition directly, since this edition's scope is the Latin reception.
