This is the Instituto Nacional de Antropologia e Historia's own excavation programme record, the Programa de Arqueologia Urbana, documenting the ongoing excavation since 2015 of the Huei Tzompantli, the great skull rack of Tenochtitlan, uncovered beneath standing colonial buildings in the historic center of Mexico City. As the excavating institution's own report it is the correct source for what has actually been found and when. Its limit is stated by the excavation itself: work is confined to what can be reached beneath the standing buildings above it, so every published skull count and dimension is of a partial exposure, not the complete structure, and a claim asserting a final total needs to note that the site remains only partly excavated.
