Ratana: The Man, the Church, the Political Movement

Ratana: The Man, the Church, the Political Movement, J. McLeod Henderson's 1972 scholarly monograph, Polynesian Society Memoir number 37, is the foundational scholarly study of Tahupotiki Wiremu Ratana, his 1918 healing ministry at Ratana Pa, and the Ratana movement's entry into Maori parliamentary politics and its Labour Party alliance. Its strength is that it is the foundational monograph on the movement, in a respected specialist memoir series. Its limit is its age, over fifty years; the movement's more recent political history should be checked against later scholarship.
