Wyatt MacGaffey is an anthropologist specializing in Kongo studies, and this academic book, published by University of Chicago Press, examines BaKongo religion in the lower Zaire region, including cosmology, ritual specialists and the movements of religious renewal that periodically swept the region, based on MacGaffey's own extended fieldwork.
