Saravali

Saravali is a classical Sanskrit primary text of Hindu horoscopic astrology attributed to Kalyanavarma, part of the same jyotisha textual tradition as the Brihat Jataka and widely cited within later Hindu astrological literature, and this record holds it at the tier appropriate to a tradition's own foundational treatise rather than to independent outside verification. As a primary text it is authoritative for what it itself states, checkable against the translation, not for a modern scholarly account of how this tradition actually developed historically. Use it for the content of classical Hindu astrological doctrine as this text presents it; it is not a modern scholarly analysis of jyotisha's history, which needs a dedicated source such as David Pingree's work alongside it.
