Carl Linnaeus's Systema Naturae, tenth edition, published by Laurentius Salvius in 1758, is the foundational taxonomic work that established binomial nomenclature as the standard for naming living things and named the major animal classes still in use today, Mammalia, Aves, Amphibia, Pisces, Insecta and Vermes among them. Its strength is that it is the primary founding text of zoological classification, the actual starting point later taxonomists trace their nomenclature back to. Its relevance here is narrow and stated plainly: it is cited only for the origin of the zoological class names used to sort spirit animal entries by taxonomic group, and it says nothing at all about religion, spirit animals or any belief system; a claim about the religious meaning of an animal spirit needs a source on that tradition, never this eighteenth century taxonomy.

Reliability Tier1
Carl Linnaeus's Systema Naturae, tenth edition, published by Laurentius Salvius in 1758, is the primary founding text of zoological classification itself, treated at the top tier for the narrow taxonomic naming fact it is cited for. NotesThe starting point of zoological nomenclature. Named the classes Mammalia, Aves, Amphibia, Pisces, Insecta and Vermes. Cited here only for the origin of the zoological classes the spirit-animal sub-groups are sorted by; it says nothing about religion.
